Content:
An awareness programme was conducted for the teachers of all the schools in Hoskote
Taluk on 23rd August, 2011. The programme was aimed at sensitizing the teachers
about the health issues of students in adolescence and also support required by
the girls in their pubescent age.
The symposium was conducted with the support of the Block Education Officer, Mr.
Basavaraje Gowda. A team of at least one lady teacher accompanied the Head of the
School/ College for the programme.
Mrs. Neelavathi, Medical Social Worker and Field Supervisor from the Community Medicine
Department, Manipal University gave a very educative presentation on the Health,
Social and Psychological issues of adolescence. The talk was very well received
by the audience.

The event was organized by Manipal Foundation and Rotary Indiranagar Bangalore Trust
jointly to create awareness in the rural areas about the benefits of using sanitary
napkins as opposed to the traditional methods
On September 6th 2011 the above initiative was extended by directly addressing the
girl students. More than 1200 girls from the school and PU college of Government
Girls School and College Hoskote were addressed by Medical Social Worker, Mrs.Neelavathi
explainin in detail the various problems faced by them in adolescence and how to
address them. The girls were very interactive and had a lot of their doubts cleared
through question and answer sessions.
