Manipal Foundation addresses Menstrual hygiene issues of rural girls and women:

Manipal Foundation, in partnership with Rotary Indiranagar Bangalore Trust, have initiated the Rural Hygiene Programme. In this, a self help group of women members from Sonahallipura village, Hoskote Taluk, Bangalore Rural District have been identified. The women were given training for manufacture of quality sanitary napkins. The initial equipment and raw materials have been procured to start the unit.

The unit was officially flagged off on Independence day, August 15th 2011. Manipal Foundation and Rotary will continue to hand hold this unit till sustainability is reached.

The napkins manufactured by the self help group are being sold to students of Government schools and colleges of Hoskote Taluk at subsidized rates. The subsidy is being shared by Manipal Foundation and Rotary equally.
